In hindsight, these two guys should perhaps have considered submitting their manuscripts to journals with a… ahem… slightly higher impact factior. Then again, how could they possibly have predicted that they would end up Name Reactions?

S. O. Lawesson et al.; Bulletin des Sociétés Chimiques Belges 1978, 87, 223-228. (No DOI available, not available online.)

S. M. Weinreb et al.; Tetrahedron Lett. 1981, 22, 3815-3818. (Available here.)

That’s right, these are the original references for Lawesson’s reagent and Weinreb’s ketone synthesis.

This “Publish like a pro” Nature paper was obviously not available back then.

One Response to Two people who clearly underestimated their personal impact factor

  1. James says:

My accidental misreading of the first paragraph: “the paper, after predation by an inland seabird, came back unreviewed”.

    I like that better.
