I chuckled a bit when I saw this graphical abstract. I like bromobenzene; I have written about it before.
Disclaimer: I haven’t even read the paper, this just caught my eye while aimlessly browsing ACS Mobile, one of my favorite apps.
Anyway, I figured I’d turn this into a final exam question (pixelation and colors are on me):
Org. Lett. 2013, Article ASAP (DOI: 10.1021/ol400650v)
Final exam
Dear undergraduate,
- Name reagents and conditions A
- Name reagents and conditions B
- WTF is IDCP?
- Draw structure X with emphasis om the correct stereochemistry and…
- …provide a convincing rationale for the observed formation of a single diastereomer
Hint: Look at the final structure. Good luck!
The abstract is very eye-catchy, the truth require more arrows
anyway it’s a great article ! full of inspiration, as your whole blog 🙂
The paper was good indeed.
I wish I could be more of that inspirational person I hope I am at times. Right now, I’m buried in paper-work. I hate paper-work. I think paper-work can go to hell.
2)Iodine dicollidine perchlorate…
I am all for some sincere ass kicking. Please when are you going to announce (and handsomely reward) a winner of the “Small compound, big challenge”? The last time when you mentioned, you promised to do it by the end of March 2013.
I am an undergrad and I think I failed 🙁
