Comic Sans is without a doubt and for very good reasons the most hated of all fonts ever created. Even the sorry creator, typographer Vincent Connare, sympathizes with the world-wide movement to ban it. If still in doubt, look here, here and here.

So when my fellow blogger Chemjobber tweeted this in passing a couple of days ago, I admittedly laughed out loud alone in front of the computer.

I’ve long believed that Comic Sans has no place in scientific talks. It’s popping up in journals left and right now. (DOI: 10.1039/b700141, DOI: 10.1021/jo102385u). My high school yearbook banned the use of it in senior ads b/c it was so pervasive and I’m hoping ACS style someday follows suit.

Also, shameless plug, in addition to the above links this youtube video my sister made in college is also worth a watch:

I urge EVERYONE to watch this clip. Thank you very much for sharing. Masterpiece – tell your sister that!

That JOC graphical abstract sends shivers down my spine.

Sorry, one of the DOIs is bad above! It should be 10.1039/b700141j
